Beginner’s Guide to Tap Dance in Singapore

Beginner's Guide to Tap Dance in Singapore

Tap is a dance form with many distinct steps and footwork. It is an exciting dance form that can be danced to almost any kind of music, such as pop music, hip-hop and funk music. Tap dance is often performed in tap dance classes in Singapore and competitions.

Learning tap dance in Singapore

1. Basic steps of tap dancing

Such as the basic toe movement, moving your foot up and down in front of your body, moving your foot from side to side in front of your body, taking small steps and making small jumps.

2. More advanced movements

Such as swinging your leg from side to side in front of you or from the front of you to the back of you. The swing is usually done with both legs together, but can also be done with one leg at a time.

It looks like a mini-swing with one leg being swung behind the other leg; however, instead of swinging back and forth, the leg being swung goes up and down while still being held straight up (this is called going up and down).

3. Moving your foot in front of your body

Moving your foot in front of your body

Move it in a step that looks like a heel-toe step (you do this when you are jumping). You can also do the same kind of move where you bend your knee and swing your foot from side to side in front of you. – Putting together steps into one movement or “groove”.

For example, you could jump from side to side and swing from left to right. The end result would be jumping on one leg, jumping on the other leg, swinging from left to right, then jumping again on one leg.

What makes tap dance in Singapore different from other types of dance?

Unlike many other types of dance forms, tap involves rhythm instead of just relying on your legs. It is important that you need to know rhythms (the tempo or beat).

You also need to know which steps come next in your rhythm – or if you want to do something special like change direction or even add another step altogether – you will need to change the rhythm as well! Most dancers start out by learning how to do simple dances such as the Charleston, Tango, and West Coast Swing, but then later learn more complex dances like Foxtrot and Swing.

Tap dance in Singapore is a great choice for people who want to learn to dance but don’t want to start from scratch. It is also a good choice for dancers who have no dance experience as tap is can be easier to learn than many other dance forms.

What are the differences between beginner, intermediate and advanced levels?

Each level of the class has its own requirements (usually based on your level of dance experience) so that you can progress in the class as you improve. There are three levels of tap classes – Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced – which correspond with their different levels of difficulty:

Beginner level

This level teaches you how to do basic steps like clapping and tapping your foot in time with the music. While beginners will be expected to follow most of the instructor’s instructions, they should be able to learn on their own after being exposed to it for a short time (typically within 3 months). Beginners will usually be taught a simple rhythm first, then later advanced techniques that may require more complex rhythms.

Intermediate level

The Intermediate level requires you to know most steps already but now needs more attention paid by the instructor in order for them to flow smoothly together (or if you are following along with the music).

There will be more complex rhythms, and even some advanced steps such as turning and stopping. The Intermediate level is usually taught over a period of 3-6 months, depending on your level of dance experience.

Advanced level

Advanced level

The advanced level is for people who have mastered the previous levels. This level requires that you are able to follow directions from the instructor as well as being able to memorize rhythms and understand some basic moves like changing direction or adding a step. Advanced tap dancers in Singapore can be in this class for as long as 6 months or longer (depending on your level of dance experience).

How does tap dance in Singapore work?

For those who have seen this dance form, they will say that this is an incredible form of dance. For those who haven’t seen this form of dance, they might be curious as to what this kind of dance actually looks like.

Before you start taking this class, there are some things that you need to know about tap dancing.

First of all, the rhythms and beats of the song should be familiar to you. If you are going to take a class for beginners, then it is not necessary for you to learn all the steps of tap dance but instead just concentrate on learning how to tap your feet on the floor in a rhythm which is similar to that of the song.

Once you have done that, then you will have an idea as to how everything will work in a class and what kind of environment it is going to be like. If you are wondering if this kind of class is going to be easy or difficult for you, then we would say that it is not difficult at all because it will be easy if all your efforts go into learning how rhythm and beats works and what kind of music is played during a class.
